Our Outside Space

At Beckley Preschool, we embrace and encourage the importance of outdoor play and exploring our environment, whatever the weather. We have a large outdoor front garden with a large mud kitchen, sandpit, climbing frames, slide and growing beds. We grow lots of different fruit and vegetables through the year. The children are actively involved in this from choosing what to grow, planting, picking and eating them.

We explore a variety of messy play outside,  along with different activities involving maths, physical play, creative, building and problem solving to name a few.

At the Preschool we have all in one puddle suits, which the children can wear if it is raining or snowing, as we aim to go outside and get fresh air in all weathers.

We also have a very large rural field space behind the Preschool, which we use every week. We get to this via an idyllic wooden bridge over a stream, which promotes lots of language and imaginative stories. This is a field with toys, activities, mud kitchen and messy play. We hold our Sports Day and annual school leavers party here.
